Why ‘I have a hectic life’ is just not a good enough excuse to be unhealthy

The first thing that comes to mind for most people when they think about exercise is, “Do I have the time?” That reminded me of this story I’d come across earlier this year. It’s the story of Charlene Bazarian and I came across it at Fitfluential.com, right here. Charlene’s is not the traditional weight loss story. While it does have the focus on exercise, it also looks at the decisions you can make outside of the gym and fitness routine, and how that can really determine your health.

Charlene began putting weight on during her college days. This trend continued as she studied to become a lawyer and even more so after she got married and had kids. Then, one day, she found that the ‘one size fits all’ robe at the spa did not fit her. That was the moment that changed her life. The denial and excuses that had taken her to 208 LBS. no longer worked.

Charlene began her journey to a healthier weight by relying on home workout videos. Unlike her previous, half-hearted attempts, she moved beyond cardio and aerobics and started weight training. She taught herself everything she could about fitness and nutrition, and even got certified as a personal trainer to gain more knowledge. She tried her hand at different types of exercises just to keep things interesting and to see what worked best for her. While she continued a mixture of routines, she also made some important changes in her outlook.

Charlene had a lot on her plate. She was an attorney, ran a disc jockey business, took care of her family, and also looked after her parents. Earlier, that would have been reason enough to believe that she just did not have time to exercise. But after she’d made up her mind that a hectic schedule would just not work as an excuse, Charlene found time for her health. She broke up her workouts into smaller slots done throughout the day, and ensured that nothing came in the way of those dedicated time periods.

It wasn’t easy, especially when she had to put her health and herself before others who’d demand her attention. But becoming active helped her cope with the many responsibilities she had, and so she made the time. She also made changes that many people viewed as sacrifices. Friends who had been supportive at the outset began to get annoyed by her suggestions to do more active things or her refusal to go to certain events. But she stuck by her decisions because they are what enabled her to keep her routine.

She kept far away from the habits of ‘just this once’ and ‘one day won’t matter’. Instead, she believed that every tiny step mattered. She turned daily habits into healthy ones – steps instead of elevators, bike rides with her kids, walks while catching up with friends, and so on. And one by one, the pounds melted away, until Charlene came down to 117 LBS.

But, her journey did not end there. Charlene continues to be as busy as ever. In fact, even more so now that she has added the passion of fitness to her day as well as becoming a pubic inspiration. But nothing deters her from the habits she had set in place. She continues to take healthy decisions instead of unhealthy ones at every opportunity. She still makes time for her health, and she works through any resistance that she sometimes receives from friends who mean nothing but the best.

Charlene believes that fitness is a lifelong thing. It isn’t a journey that ends, but one that gets better and better. Sometimes, you are greatly tempted to veer away from the path. But sticking to it means keeping your conscious happy, and you, healthy. Of course, it isn’t always easy, and Charlene found that having a trainer as a support structure can make all the difference in whether you stay true to your journey or not. She relied on trainers many times, first for guidance, then for inspiration.

In fact, the right trainer can really determine how successful you are at your attempt to get healthy. This is true regardless of whether your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, or just get fit. And it’s a really big advantage if you can find a trainer who comes to your house, at any time convenient to you, and helps you stay motivated and fit. LocalMasters.com is one such site that makes it easy for you to find such trainers. It makes the process very simple – just choose your place, time, and trainer, and get started towards fitness with all the support and guidance you need. To know more, click here.

Having a hectic day is no longer an excuse for being unhealthy. In fact, a hectic day is even more reason for you to think about your health.
