Public Speaking is one of the biggest fears that people have. It can be intimidating to speak in front of a large group of peers, friends, family, and strangers. So we have developed a perfect curriculum which will help you build confidence during presentations and public speaking events. Local Masters’ instructors are well-renowned coaches who have years of experience under the belt. Make sure to find out more.

Tips for becoming a better at public speaking

Public speaking has been around since the first centuries of the Greek era. There were coliseums and public speaking areas built where people can speak publicly to an audience. And while these places exist today, it can be intimidating to speak in front of people. So here are some valuable tips on how you can train yourself for public speaking.

According to Marjorie North, a consultant for political candidates, she believes practice and preparation is key. “All people feel some physiological reactions like pounding hearts and trembling hands,” said North via Harvard University‘s official page. “Do not associate these feelings with the sense that you will perform poorly or make a fool of yourself. Some nerves are good. The adrenaline rush that makes you sweat also makes you more alert and ready to give your best performance.”

Another key point is to know your audience. “Before you begin to craft your message, consider who the message is intended for,” said North. “Learn as much about your listeners as you can. This will help you determine your choice of words, level of information, organization pattern, and motivational statement.”

Another big key point that North mentions is to let your personality come through. “Be yourself, don’t become a talking head—in any type of communication. You will establish better credibility if your personality shines through, and your audience will trust what you have to say if they can see you as a real person.”

Tips for becoming better during presentations

Presentations usually combine the efforts of public speaking and preparation. In today’s age we rely on technology to get our presentation across to the audience and viewers. So here are some tips that might help you during your next presentation.

Show passion and connect with the audience. Just like public speaking, you want to be able to stimulate the minds of the viewers with your passion and idea. Being bland creates unresponsiveness from the audience and causes them to become distracted.

Follow the 10-20-30 rule. Guy Kawasaki came up with a brilliant idea which combines simple essential rules for power point presentations. “A Power Point presentation should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points” – Kawasaki.

Smile and make eye contact. This is a simple step that can help you become a better presenter. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at any time!
