This can be done in three ways: one, practice fighting applications with a partner or instructor, two, Circling Hands through which you learn to create and use openings to attack with a Tai Chi hand technique, and three, two person sparring where you and your partner continue to attack and defend to build skill.

    Stage 4: Fighting

    In this stage, you bring together everything you have learned and apply it to master actual fighting. This stage involves additional steps such as understanding your opponent, working with space and distance, understanding opportunity, and many other techniques and skills that you need to develop to handle an actual fight.
